APPROVED CHP/TSAAC HEAVY DUTY
TRAINING FOR CALIFORNIA
Basic Requirements:
Commercial Driver’s License or Commercial Permit.
Operators need to be prepared to have PPE equipment (Boots, Gloves, Safety Glasses, Head Protection, Work Wear) available all three days of this training.
Flip flop or open toe shoes will not be allowed.
Printed or electronic copy of the Essentials of Heavy Duty Towing & Recovery Manual (link will be emailed once registration is completed)
Description: The Essentials of Heavy Duty Towing & Recovery Course is a 3-day class. The course will touch on:
Professionalism & Safety
Safe Driving
Truck Inspection and Maintenance
Operator Responsibilities
Equipment Knowledge
Ratings and Tow Capacities
Basic Recovery Techniques
Calculating Resistance
Winches and Wire Ropes
Towing and Hookup Techniques
Scene Incident Management

Code & Conduct:
All students/drivers will conduct themselves in a professional manner. Students and drivers will follow the direction of the instructor and any other ERSCA representatives present during training class. Students should not be under the influence of alcohol or other mind-altering substances during the duration of the course.
