PREREQUISITE: The Operator must have a Commercial Class B or A license or permit.
This Essentials of Heavy Duty Towing & Recovery class is a 3 day course - day one begins at 9:00 AM and days 2 and 3 begin at 8:00 AM. Emphasis is on conduct & appearance, operator responsibilities, equipment knowledge, chain & wire rope specification, load limits, straps & slings, rigging for a successful recovery, calculating resistance, air brake systems, towing & hookup techniques, and hazardous materials. A test and certification will conclude the course. This training reflects minimum heavy duty tow truck operator training. Depending on the student and his/her abilities and experience, additional training may be required prior to towing or operating recovery equipment.
• Refreshments and lunch are included on all days of training.
• Operators will need to wear their tow company uniform and pants to each class.
• It is also essential that operators wear work boots with a minimum oil resistant sole and safety apparel required for hands on training.
• A successful class is dependent on the amount of Heavy/Medium Duty Tow Trucks made available to each class. Please have your qualified operators bring a 3 Axle Heavy Duty Tow Truck or a 2 Axle Medium Duty Tow Truck to this class.
Please note that the instructor(s) will check for a valid driver’s license upon class check-in, the name on the driver’s license must match the name on the roster. Please allow up to two (2) weeks for your test results. Terms & Conditions: NO cancellations or refunds within seven (7) days of the class.
Code & Conduct: All students/drivers will conduct themselves in a professional manner, horseplay or roughhousing is not allowed on site. Students and drivers will follow the direction of the instructor, ERSCA Representative, and host company manager while on site. No alcohol, weapons or illegal substances, or harassment of others will be allowed. Students must be respectful of property of ERSCA as well as the host company, please report any malfunction or breakage, immediately. Instructors have the final decision on any questionable behavior or appearance and may evict any student from the class as they see fit.
